Cost of Living

Other than housing, gas, and electricity, I don’t usually find that prices for other stuff are too much more here in CA. Food and other items can even be cheaper (mangos are $0.33 each).

But I was intrigued that Lowe’s refuses to show a price until you tell them what zip code you’re in. It appears that they are showing significantly different prices online based on your locale.

OpenRAW Survey

Main No Comments »

Attention all you photographers: The OpenRAW project is a now-or-never situation. With more camera makers putting encryption inside of their RAW formats, you will be unable to use the images from your own camera without propreitary software. If that company goes out of business (as many camera makers have this year alone) those images will be lost forever. Even worse, anyone “hacking” the format to get at their own pictures will be sent to jail under the Worst Law Ever.

Head on over and fill out the survey to let the Big Camera folks know you demand an open RAW format.
